The bandh will conclude on Sunday, the day on which the first non-tribal Chief Minister of the state, Raghuvar Das, will be sworn-in.

Raghubar Das, who won the Jamshedpur East constituency by over 70,000 votes, was yesterday elected as the party legislature leader. He will be the state's first non-tribal Chief Minister.

Ever since Jharkhand was separated from Bihar in 2000, five tribal chief ministers have taken charge of the state for nine different tenures.

The BJP has 37 MLAs in the 81-member Assembly while its ally AJSU has five.

Meanwhile, CPI Maoists in Bihar and Jharkhand have also called state-wide band to protest the killings of five Maoist prisoners who were shot dead when they tried to escape as they were brought back to Chaibasa Jail West Singhbhum district.
