PM Modi accuses Pakistan of creating ‘nuisance', promoting terror

In a blunt attack on Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today accused it of creating “nuisance” and “constantly” troubling India by promoting terrorism.

The Prime Minister's sharp criticism came during the course of his address at the Bangabandhu International Convention Centre here when he vowed to jointly combat with Bangladesh terrorism in the region.  

Government drags Nestle to consumer court over unfair trade practice

Clamping down further on Nestle over Maggi issue, government has dragged it to the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) for “unfair trade practices and misleading advertisements” and may seek financial penalties among other actions.

The development comes amidst the Indian unit of the Swiss multinational withdrawing Maggi from the markets after several states banned the famous ‘2-minute' instant food brand as tests showed them containing taste enhancer MSG (Mono Sodium Glutamate) and lead in excess of the permissible limits.

RJD, JD (U) decide to contest Bihar polls together

Bihar's ruling JD(U) and Lalu Prasad's RJD will contest the state assembly elections in alliance and a 6-member committee will be constituted for seat-sharing talks.

“Today, it has been decided that RJD and JD(U) will contest the Bihar polls in alliance,” Samajwadi Party general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav said after a two-hour meeting between Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD chief Lalu Prasad.  

IIT-Madras revokes ban on Ambedkar Periyar Students' Group

IIT Madras on Sunday reinstated recognition to Ambedkar Periyar Study Circle (APSC), a students group and appointed Professor Miland Brahme as its faculty advisor. The decision was taken after a meeting between the Dean of Students and representatives of APSC held on Sunday.

“The Dean of Students reinstated the recognition of APSC as an independent student body, and after consultation with the APSC representatives, recommended Professor Milind Brahme as the Faculty Advisor,” an official release from IIT-M said.

Stan Wawrinka won the French Open by beating No. 1-seeded Novak Djokovic 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 in the final Sunday, thwarting Djokovic's bid to complete a career Grand Slam.

The eighth-seeded Wawrinka, so long in the shadow of his Swiss Davis Cup teammate and pal, Roger Federer, collected his second major title after last year's Australian Open.
