Setback to 'grand alliance' in Bihar, Samajwadi Party to contest Assembly polls on its own

Lucknow: The Samajwadi Party today pulled out of the 'grand alliance' in poll-bound Bihar, saying it felt "humiliated" as it was not consulted while deciding seats and would contest the Assembly elections in the state on its own.

The SP's decision ahead of the Bihar polls comes as a jolt to the grand alliance which was floated to counter the BJP in the state.

Sheena Bora murder case: Indrani Mukerjea confesses to crime, Peter grilled again

New Delhi: Indrani Mukerjea, the prime accused in the murder of her daughter Sheena Bora, has finally broken down after a sustained 10-day interrogation by the Mumbai Police and confessed to her role in the heinous crime, according to television reports.

Other accused in the notorious crime, Indrani's former husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyamvar Rai have already confessed to their role in killing the 24-year-old girl.

Black money: submit report by Oct. 7, Supreme Court tells SIT

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday asked the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on black money to submit the fourth report on the progress of its probe by October 7 and sought to know from the Centre about the steps taken to implement SIT's recommendations to bring back illegal moneys stashed in foreign banks.

“The Attorney General will tell us what the Centre has done on the recommendations of the SIT,” a bench comprising Chief Justice H L Dattu and Justices M B Lokur and A K Sikri said while posting the hearing for October 28.
