Maggi in deeper soup: Centre files complaint before NCDRC
In further troubles for Nestle over Maggi issue, the government has filed a complaint on its own with the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) -- using a provision for the first time from the nearly three-decade-old Consumer Protection Act.
Describing the alleged lapses related to food safety standards in Maggi noodles as a "serious issue", Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan also said that the NCDRC will investigate the matter and take appropriate action.
1984 riots: Court asks CBI to reply on allegations against Jagdish Tytler
A Delhi Court today directed CBI to reply on the allegations that Congress leader Jagdish Tytler tried to influence a witness in a 1984 anti Sikh riots case in which the agency has filed a closure report.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate S P S Laler sought CBI's response on the statement recorded by the agency of jailed businessman Abhishek Verma during its further investigation in the riots case.
Flood-hit farmers of J&K feel insulted by compensation cheques worth Rs 47
Jammu and Kashmir government officials handed over compensation cheques to 2014 flood victims ranging between Rs 47 and Rs 378.
The cheques were given to the farmers hit by flood in Sarora region.
The farmers have described the cheques a 'joke' and refused to accept it.
Several farmers said that government officials had last month visited the village to inspect the loss incurred due to flood. At that time, they hoped that the outcome will be something fruitful.
Pakistan can ‘keep harboring wrong notions' on Kashmir: India
Reacting strongly to Pakistani Army chief General Raheel Sharif's remarks that Kashmir was an “unfinished agenda” of the Partition, India today said Pakistan can keep “harbouring the wrong notions” but that will not make any difference to actual conditions.
“I think this is the notion they will keep harbouring. They can keep harbouring that wrong notion. It will not make any difference to actual conditions,” Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh said.
