Ufa (Russia): Prime Minister Narendra Modi today held discussions on bilateral ties with Chinese President Xi Jinping here and said their fifth meeting in a year shows the depth of India-China relationship.The two leaders met ahead of the BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summits here. It is the fourth bilateral meeting between the two leaders since their first in Fortaleza, Brazil, last July.
Vyapam scam: MP High Court defers hearing on CBI probe, SC to take call tomorrow
Jabalpur/New Delhi: The onus for ordering a CBI probe into the Vyapam scam now rests with Supreme Court after the Madhya Pradesh High Court today deferred hearing on a state government's plea for an inquiry by the central agency, saying the apex court would hear similar petitions tomorrow.
As the MP High Court deferred the hearing till July 20, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who was in Delhi, said his government will request the Supreme Court for a CBI inquiry into the scandal which, according to Congress, has claimed 49 lives so far.
Microsoft writes off $7.6 bn in Nokia deal; to cut 7,800 jobs
New York: In a major restructuring of its mobile devices business, US tech giant Microsoft today said it is writing off USD 7.6 billion it spent on acquiring Nokia and will cut 7,800 jobs, but was silent on India impact.
"I want to update you on decisions impacting our phone business... We anticipate that these changes, in addition to other headcount alignment changes, will result in the reduction of up to 7,800 positions globally, primarily in our phone business," Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said in an email to employees.

Hyderabad: Jailed Indian Mujahideen (IM) co-founder Mohammed Ahmed Siddibapa alias Yasin Bhatkal, an accused in the February 2013 Dilsukhnagar twin blasts here, has alleged he is facing threat to his life from police and sought round-the-clock surveillance.
In a petition filed before the Special Court for NIA cases, Bhatkal and other accused, lodged in the Cherlapalli Central Prison here, sought a direction to the jail authorities to install CCTV cameras in the high-security cell to maintain round-the-clock surveillance on them.
