Golconda Fort
Situated in the city of Hyderabad, Golconda Fort was built by Kakatiya kings.
Located at-least 11 kilometers away from the city, the Golconda Fort is known for its rich history and a majestic and imposing grand structure.
Golkonda was once renowned for the magnificent diamonds found on the south-east at Kollur Mine near Kollur Lake.
The city and fortress are built on a granite hill that 400 ft high and is surrounded by massive crenellated ramparts.
After this fort was built the Kakatiya dynasty was ruled by the ruler named Quli Qutub Shah Wali who did numerous renovations in the fort.
The fort finally fell into ruins during the reign of Mughal emperor Aurangazeb in 1687 AD.
