8. Vijaylaxmi Pandit 
Vijaya Lakshmi Nehru Pandit was an Indian diplomat and politician, the sister of Jawaharlal Nehru.
She was a great woman who accepted imprisonment smiling and boldly several times for her country and compatriots.
She strongly held the Quit India Movement and Non Cooperation movement in the country.
Her courage and dynamic personality made her get elected as the first female president in United Nation General Assembly.
Vijaylaxmi Pandit tried to abolish caste barrier and outdated custom and tried hard to bring woman empowerment in the country.
9. Indira Gandhi
Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi was the third Prime Minister of India and the the most remarkable Indian woman who is the prime focus in the history of India.
She was a central figure of the Indian National Congress party and was the active participant in the National liberation movement.
Indira is the second-longest-serving Prime Minister of India and the only woman to hold the office, who served from 1966 to 1977 and then again from 1980 until her assassination in 1984.
She was the only child of Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
She trained the children to act against the British rule and established the Vanar Sena, the children brigade in 1930.
Her contribution in the field of economic and political development of the country is commendable.
Indira Gandhi's name is found in Golden letters on every page of History in the field of politics and struggle.
She also presided over a state of emergency from 1975 to 1977 during which she ruled by decree and made lasting changes to the constitution of India. She was assassinated in the aftermath of Operation Blue Star.
In 2001, Gandhi was voted the greatest Indian Prime Minister in a poll organised by India Today. She was also named "Woman of the Millennium" in a poll organised by the BBC in 1999.
10. Sucheta Kriplani
Born as Sucheta Mazumdar she was an Indian freedom fighter and politician in Uttar Pradesh and proved her strength and will while working in close association with Mahatma Gandhi to bring freedom to our country.
She became the first woman to be elected Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
Sucheta had immense contribution to the nation during the Quit India Movement.
Due to her exceptional talent, she was not only the first chief minister of U.P but also she was the first woman to be elected as the chief minister of any of the state in India.
She was the true mother of the victims of atrocities and thus leaving behind her own health and family, immersed herself in helping others and bringing peace.
