5. Cherrapunji Rainfall: It is credited as being the wettest place on Earth, though it is debated whether the nearby place Mawsynram holds that record.
It is located in East Khasi Hills district in the Indian state of Meghalaya about 16 km east of Mawsynram.
Cherrapunji receives both the southwest and northeast monsoonal winds.
The locals living in and around Cherrapunjee are known as Khasis.
