Dharamsala: Tibetan organisations here are hoping that Prime Minister Narendra Modi takes up the issue of Tibet during talks with visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping.

"During his three-day visit to India, we hope that President Xi Jinping will see the beauty of Indian Democracy, the unity in diversity, how it works, India being the land of many languages, land of many communities exist cohesively because freedom is the foundation of India and fear is not the foundation of India, that's what keeps India together," Tibetan Prime Minister in Exile Lobsang Sangay said here.

Tibetan Women's Association, which claims to be the largest women's political organisation in exile, also urged Modi to raise the issue of Tibet with the Chinese leader.

Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Ahmedabad today on a three-day visit. This is Xi's first visit to India since he became the president a year ago.

Xi will leave for Delhi late in the evening today.
