Three persons, including a teenaged student, were killed and 17 others injured when an overcrowded mini-bus overturned after a tyre burst in North Delhi on Wednesday morning.
The bus plying between Harsh Vihar and ISBT overturned in Majnu Ka Tilla area after one of its tyres burst at around 8 am, a senior police official said.
Three persons, including 17-year-old Pradeep Tiwari who was a student of Ludlow Castle School, died on the spot while the injured were rushed to Sushruta Trauma Centre where they are undergoing treatment.
The two other men who died in the accident are yet to be identified. They are in the age group 25-30 years. Out of the 17 injured, the official said, eight are students.
An eyewitness said the rear tyre of the mini bus burst and the driver lost control over the vehicle and then it overturned.
In another accident in Ashok Vihar Phase-III on Wednesday morning, a brother and sister duo on way to school were killed when their motorcycle collided with a DTC bus.
The incident took place at Deep Market in Ashok Vihar Phase-3 and the victims Karanpal Nagpal (17) and his sister Ishu (13) were on way to Jai Mata Kaur Public School on a motorcycle when the mishap took place. Their motorcycle was hit by a DTC bus which was returning after dropping students at Kishan Public School. PTI
