Jammu, Jul 5: Tension gripped Bhaderwah area of Doda district today after some persons of a community dismantled a portion of a house belonging to another community over a dispute regarding construction of a shrine.
It was being alleged that the house had encroached upon shrine property during the construction. About nine years ago, the house was constructed next to the shrine in Malothi village, said DIG Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban range, Gareeb Dass.
The other community claimed the owner of the house had encroached upon the shrine property during the construction, Dass said.
Recently, a sub divisional magistrate and a tehsildar stated that a small portion of the house in question was constructed on shrine land.
Last night, some persons assembled and dismantled the portion of the house triggering tension. The owner also alleged that the unidentified people pelted stones at his residence.
However, Dass said, “Things are under control. Police are monitoring the situation there.”
