Hyderabad, Mar 6 :  City police today said they have made elaborate security arrangements for the 'Million March' (Chalo Hyderabad programme) called by Telangana Joint  Action Committee (T-JAC) here on March 10 when over ten lakh people are expected to march through the city. Hyderabad Police Commissioner A K Khan today said police are making elaborate security arrangements for March 10 to ensure that no violence takes place and also to facilitate the Intermediate, ICSE and CBSE students to write their exams without hindrance.

"In addition to the city police force, additional police personnel from outside will be deployed at different places of the city and around all the exam centres," Khan said. The T-JAC has given a call for the 'Million March' to press for its demand to introduce Telangana Bill in the ongoing Parliament session. As a precautionary measure for smooth conduct of the Intermediate and SSC Public examinations that are scheduled to begin from March 7, the Hyderabad Police have already decided to clamp prohibitory orders under Section 144 Criminal Procedure Code around all the examination centres here.

"The citizens and more particularly the students appearing for exams (ICSC/CBSE/Intermediate) and their parents are requested to take note of the situation as the traffic is likely to be severely disrupted and law and order problems are anticipated. Students appearing for the exams should take appropriate route to reach the exam centres well in advance as the exams will go on," Khan said. The Intermediate (Class XI and Class XII) Public exams are scheduled to be held from March 7 to 25 while the SSC exams are to be held from March 24 to April 9. The Hyderabad Police have also prohibited rallies, public meetings and other types of protests without permission.

About 1.40 lakh students are appearing for Intermediate exam on March 10 in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts. Nearly 8,000 students from the city will take the CBSE exams on the same day. When asked about the total number of police force to be deployed for March 10 in view of 'Million March' programme, another senior police officer told PTI that they were working out the details and the number of personnel to be deployed would be known by tomorrow evening.  Meanwhile, under flak from some sections of Telangana supporters for calling off their non-cooperation agitation, Andhra Pradesh government employees in Telangana region today said they will launch an indefinite strike in the last week of April.

"We have decided to serve an indefinite strike notice in the last week of April once the examinations of students are over," N Vithal, a leader of Telangana government  employees associations, told reporters here. "We are very much active in the pro-Telangana agitation and we will continue our struggle till Telangana flag is held aloft on the Assembly building," K Swamy Goud, another leader, said.

The plans of the Telangana employees to undertake indefinite strike came in the wake of criticism made by some sections of the government employees for calling off the non-cooperation agitation "abruptly" from Saturday last. The government employees in the region even burnt the effigies of leaders like Swamy Goud at some places.

The Telangana employees, under the aegis of Joint Action Committee, had launched the non-cooperation agitation and abstained from work since February 17. The government conceded the main demands of the JAC, including ensuring a 42 per cent share in jobs to people from Telangana, constituting a judicial committee to review the implementation of Presidential Order in respect of government jobs and cancelling the "illegal deputation" of officers. Swamy Goud signed an agreement with the government on implementation of the demands in the presence of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy Friday last when they called off the non-cooperation stir "temporarily". Swamy Goud and other leaders cited requests from students, parents and pensioners as the reason for calling off the non-cooperation agitation. PTI
