Srinagar, Mar 30: A teenaged boy allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the Jhelum river in Bandipora district of north Kashmir, police said today.
Ishfaq Ahmad Wani (19), a student of class XII, jumped into the river near his residence at Hajan, 40 kms from here, late last night, they said.
Efforts are on to fish out the body, he said, adding it was not immediately known as to what prompted the boy to take such an extreme step.
Meanwhile, body of a 70-year-old man was fished out from river Jhelum at Bijbehara, 45 kms from here, in Anantnag district of south Kashmir.
The identity of the deceased was not known immediately, police said.
Further investigations into both the cases are on, they added.
