New Delhi: Sunanda Pushkar's son Shiv Pushkar Menon today asked the Delhi Police to conclude the inquiry into his mother's death expeditiously and impartially and expressed dismay at people “conjecturing” on the cause of her death.

In a statement, Shiv, currently in Dubai, termed the recent speculation in the media surrounding the death of his mother as “deeply disturbing” and said he joins his stepfather Shashi Tharoor in again requesting the investigating officers to conclude the inquiry “expeditiously and impartially”.

“The tragic loss of my mother has already caused too much agony to all of us. We have full faith in the police and hope that the unvarnished truth regarding her death would soon be known.

“I am dismayed to see so many people conjecturing on the cause of death on the basis of leaks and without knowing the complete facts. We request everyone to wait for the conclusion of the inquiry. We demand that the police give us a copy of their report as soon as it is completed,” Shiv said.

He also hit out at his mother's cousin for seeking a CBI inquiry in view of Sunanda's unnatural death saying, “as to the so-called member of the family who has been garnering media attention, I wish to point out that he has had no contact of any kind with my mother in several years and that we have never met.

“I reject his sudden new-found concern for her and utterly dismiss his claim to speak in any way for our family.”

Sunanda was found dead in a 5-star hotel in south Delhi on the night of January 17 after her Twitter spat with Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar over an alleged affair with Shashi Tharoor.

Delhi Police said that the fresh report submitted by AIIMS doctors on the reasons for Sunanda's death was “inconclusive” and it may go for advanced forensic tests.
