New Delhi, Sept 29: Janata Party president Dr Subramanian Swamy today reacted to Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee's statement saying that the minister was "defending the indefensible and it was a pathetic defence."
"We are not concerned with the views of the Finance Minister. The nation is concerned with the facts stated in the Office Memorandum which clearly refers to documents which shows the Finance Minister (Chidambaram) was in the know of how the 2G spectrum was allocated", said Swamy.
"Chidambaram kept his silence right till the end and then he did a somersault allowing A Raja to do what he wanted to do", said Swamy. "It is a pathetic picture of the UPA government", he added.
On the 2G issue before the Supreme Court, Swamy said, he would keep his arguments ready to be placed before the court on October 10 or 11, when the arguments will resume.
In Delhi, BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said Mukherjee's statement was "laughable" and the so-called truce was deceptive.
