Meerut, Jan 22: A leopard strayed inside a house in Shahtalavali village near Meerut on Monday evening, injuring an elderly woman and a youth who had gone inside to save the woman. Hundreds of villagers equipped with lathis, axe, bamboos and other weapons guarded their homes throughout the night to save themselves from the wild animal. The leopard is hiding inside the house since Monday 8 pm.Forest employees were called in to trap the leopard, but they left late in the night, saying they were not equipped to capture the animal.
