Stone pelting has been reported once again at police officials on Monday who were visting Delhi's Jahangirpuri area to probe Saturday's violence during Hanuman Jayanti shobha yatra. An inspector Satendra Khari has received injuries on his foot.
Initial inputs say 2-3 women attacked police officials with stones.
Reports suggest police investigation team was attacked by family of man who opened fire in Jahangirpuri. The attack took place when it went to the house of a man who was seen firing a gunshot during clashes in Jahangirpuri, officials said.
One of the purported videos of the violence on Saturday showed a man in blue shirt opening fire during the clashes in Jahangirpuri.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Usha Rangnani said a police team of northwest district had gone to the suspect's house in CD Park Road for a search and examination of his family members.
"His family members pelted two stones on the police team. Legal action is being taken. One person has been detained. Situation is completely under control now," she said.
At least 23 people have been arrested in relation to Jahangirpuri clashes. Two prime accused Ansar and Aslam were produced in Delhi's Rohini court on Sunday along with other accused. Both of them were sent to one day police custody while 12 others were sent to 14-day judicial custody.
Two juveniles have also been apprehended in the case.
Probing violent clashes, Delhi Police chief has said that there was no attempt to hoist saffron flag at a mosque during Hanuman Jayanti procession, as alleged by some people belonging to a particular community.
Meanwhile, addressing a press conference earlier in the day, Delhi Police commissioner Rakesh Asthana said, "action will be taken against any person found guilty irrespective of their class, creed, community & religion."
"Nine people including police personnel & one civilian received injuries during the incident. Analysis of CCTV footage & digital media is being done. FSL teams have visited scene of crime today," he said.
"Some people are trying to disturb peace through the medium of social media. We are monitoring social media closely, and legal action will be taken against those who are found spreading misinformation. Public should not pay heed to rumours," Delhi Police chief added.
