Mumbai, Sep 3: A SpiceJet plane with 137 passengers and crew from Bangalore landed under emergency conditions at the airport here this afternoon following a technical problem.

“The ATC declared full emergency at the Mumbai Airport for the SpiceJet flight SG 344 from Bangalore at 1215 hrs. The flight made a safe landing at 1221 hrs. All the 137 passengers were deplaned safely,” an airport spokesperson told PTI.

The airline could not be immediately reached for comments.

Yesterday, Turkish Airlines flight TK970 from Istanbul to Mumbai veered off the rapid exit taxiway after landing and is still stuck in mud close to the main runway, hitting flight operations.

On Monday, a Gulf Air plane with 137 on board, had skidded off the runway and got stuck in the mud at Kochi airport in bad weather, injuring seven passengers.

Besides, there have been two emergency landings of Air India flights this week.

On Wednesday, an Air India plane from Jeddah with 286 passengers and crew, landed under emergency conditions at the airport here following suspected hydraulic failure.

The previous day, an Air India plane with 123 on board had to make a landing under similar conditions at Thiruvananthapuram after a defect was detected in its hydraulic system. PTI
