Allahabad, March 31: Local Samajwadi Party MLA Parvez Ahmed alongwith his supporters on Saturday created a ruckus at a local police station after his party councillor was detained by police for protesting against rampant gambling.
Parvez Ahmed, representing Allahabad South, alleged that police officials grabbed his party councillor by his neck and took him to the police station.
At the police station, the MLA surrounded by dozens of his supporters harangued the Station Officer and said that if the police was unable to uphold law and order, his party would take over the responsibility.
Ahmed alleged that many women had come to him complaining of rampant gambling going on in Allahabad and Naini, and their menfolk were losing their hard-earned money.
