Kolkata: South Eastern Railway (SER) has recorded a growth of 18.46 per cent in earnings from freight traffic during the first seven months of 2013-14 in comparison to the corresponding period last fiscal.
During April to October this fiscal, SER has generated an earning of Rs 5598.19 crore from freight traffic against Rs 4725.62 crore earned from the sector during the same period last year, official sources said here.
In the first seven months of current fiscal, SER loaded 77.15 million tonnes of freight as against 71.60 million tonnes loaded during the corresponding period of the last fiscal, thus registering a growth of 7.75 per cent.
