Mumbai: Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray yesterday slammed Mumbai Congress chief Janardhan Chandurkar for his critical remarks against legendary singer and Bharat Ratna awardee Lata Mangeshkar.
Chandurkar recently said the country's highest civilian honour should be taken back from those who praise “communal forces”, an apparent reference to Lata, who at a function in Pune had endorsed BJP leader Narendra Modi for the Prime Minister's post.
Talking to reporters here, Uddhav said the Congress leader is not fit for the post he is occupying.
“The award cannot be returned because of the demand made by some people,” Uddhav said when asked to comment on Chandurkar's remarks.
