New Delhi: Just a day after Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde assured that India and the US were making joint efforts to bring Dawood to India, former home secretary-turned-BJP-leader RK Singh has claimed that Shinde stopped Delhi Police from questioning a businessman in connection to IPL match fixing.
Singh, in an interview to a TV channel, disclosed the businessman had links with Dawood Ibrahim.
He said, former Delhi commissioner Niraj Kumar himself told him about all this.
He said slips used to reach the Delhi Police commissioner quite often asking him about posting favourites as Station House Officers.
He said “These were not a few postings but in a large number of police stations.”
“I don't know whether money used to exchange hands but Delhi Police Commissioner told me that numerous slips used to come from his residence... You don't make large number of recommendations... The postings as SHOs has a vigilance angle to it,” he said.
Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh defended Shinde saying that RK Singh was just playing politics.
