Mumbai: A police inspector involved with the case of unidentified body found in Raigad forest, later revealed to be that of Sheena Bora's, has said the then superintendent of police of Raigad R D Shinde asked him not to file an FIR or even an accidental death report.

The body, which remained unidentified up until a few days ago, was recovered from Raigad forest in May 2012. The then investigating officer Subhash Mirge has said in a statement that his senior official has  instructed him not to file a case of murder even after he suspected foul play.

Mirge's statement was recorded after the director general of police Sanjiv Dayal ordered an enquiry in the lapses on the part of the Raigad police in the Sheen Bora murder case.  Current SP Raigadh Suvez Haq conducted probe and has submitted the detailed report to the DGP office.

In his statement, Mirge told Haq that Shinde instructed him to make a diary entry but not file a First Information Report. Mirge said he suspected foul play as the body was half burnt and even a burnt suitcase was found nearby.

The body was reportedly brought back to the site where it was found and buried again. The remains were dug out again in September as part of the Mumbai police's investigation into the case.

Sheena Bora was allegedly murdered in April 2012 by her mother Indrani Mukerjea.  Indrani, her driver Shyam Rai and ex husband Sanjeev Khanna are under arrest on the suspicion of the murder of Sheena.

Indrani, wife of former Star India CEO Peter Mukerjea, was arrested on August 25 after her driver confessed about  her involvement before the Mumbai police.
