Mumbai: Prime accused in Sheena Bora murder case, Indrani Mukerjea, on Wednesday said that Mikhail was her adopted son.
Media reports stated that Indrani told her lawyers that Mikhail was an adopted son.
As of now, Mikhail was said to be the brother of deceased Sheena and son of Indrani. Mikhail too referred Indrani as his mother before the media and never spoke about the fact that there was an adoption angle.
Meanwhile, police on Wednesday recorded the statement of former media tycoon Peter Mukherjea -- husband of Indrani.
Shortly after the arrest of Indrani on August 25, Peter had made the sensational revelation that Sheena was actually the daughter, and not the sister of Indrani, as was previously believed.
In a related development, a Mumbai police team reached the Kolkata residence of Siddhartha Das, the first husband of Indrani.
Das, who has admitted that Sheena and her brother Mikhail were born to him and Indrani out of wedlock, has expressed willingness to cooperate in the murder probe.
Sheena was allegedly strangled in a car in 2012. Her body was burnt and dumped at a forest in Raigad, about 84 km from Mumbai.
