Mumbai: Indrani Mukerjea, the prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, allegedly threatened to commit suicide if a flat owned by husband Peter Mukerjea in south Mumbai's Marlow Apartments wasn't jointly registered in her name.

“When I was CEO of Star TV, Indrani was running M/s.INX Services. During the period in 2004, Indrani…insisted that flat number 18 may be registered in the joint name of Indrani and me. ..Indrani threatened that she will jump from the fourth floor. To avoid any untoward incident, I transferred 50 per cent shares of flat number 18 in the name of Indrani and got the flat registered in our joint name,” The Indian Express quoted Peter as having told the Mumbai Police in a statement in September.

Incidentally, it is the same flat in the Worli high-rise that Indirani was arrested from on August 25. Peter's statements came barely hours before the case was transferred to the CBI.

This two-page statement that Peter gave to the police has been shared with the CBI, and is also part of the current probe on “financial transactions” between the couple, who are co-accused in the murder case.

According to the statement, Peter claims to have bought the flat in 2003, on Indrani's insistence, for Rs 3 crore. “…not a single paisa was paid by Indrani,” Peter said in the statement.

The couple purchased another flat for Rs 70 lakh in the same building in 2005, which is also in the joint name of Peter and Indrani.
