With BJP unable to muster majority in Jharkhand Assembly polls, its actor-leader Shatrughan Sinha on Wednesday in New Delhi blamed it on the party's failure to project Yashwant Sinha as chief ministerial candidate and faulty distribution of tickets.
"The BJP paid price for not projecting senior, mature and experienced leader Yashwant Sinha as party's chief ministerial candidate in Jharkhand," Shatrughan, who was party's leading campaigner in Jharkhand elections, told PTI.
The actor-cum-Lok Sabha member from Patna Saheb in Bihar said the poor result was also because of "forced" distribution of tickets on a large scale under "pressure" from different camps of the party.
"Many unpopular and undeserving managed tickets due to pressure of different camps within the party and ultimately they were rejected by the voters," Shatrughan contended.
The former Union minister also held the leadership crisis at national level responsible for the poor show at hustings.
"During campaign people used to ask how BJP, which has failed to keep its house in order, will provide stable government in Jharkhand," Shatrughan said, adding "it was difficult to satisfy them."
He, however, hoped appointment of Nitin Gadkari as party president and Sushma Swaraj as leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha would put the house in order. PTI
