A former constable of India's Border Security Force walked in the nude alongwith his kids on Delhi's Rajpath on Wednesday afternoon. The constable says he was dismissed from service on medical grounds, reports MidDay.
Ashok Kumar Sirohi, the former BSF constable, says he wants what is his due. He alleged that he was ill-treated by his seniors. Sirohi claims that he is fit and ready for his job.
On Wednesday afternoon the jawan and his young kids marched naked through the heart of the city as a mark of protest. Ashok wanted to meet Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi but the cops detained him while he was walking nude on the Rajpath.
Ashok is from Sahvada village in Nangloi area of Delhi.
"We detained him as soon as we received information regarding the matter. We are interrogating him regarding the incident," said a police officer.
Ashok threatened that if he doesn't get his job back, he would commit suicide, as he has no money left to take care of his family. His interrogation was on till late evening at the Parliament Street police station.
BSF officials refused to comment on the issue saying they didn't have any information about Ashok's termination from the force.
"We don't know too many details about this incident. We will investigate the matter," said Vijay Singh, PRO BSF.
On Thursday, Ashok Sirohi along with his wife and kids appeared on India TV to narrate his story. He said, he had even paid a bribe of Rs 1.60 lakhs to somebody in the Home Ministry for getting himself reinstated, but was duped.
The ex-constable said that the BSF commandant who came to the police station on Wednesday assured him that his case would be sympathetically considered.
Narrating his ordeal, Sirohi said, he had taken up the case of a diabetic and heart patient head constable while on duty on the border and was insulted by his deputy commandant Rathore in front of the parade. Since then he continued to be facing difficulties. He was admitted to AIIMS for two years after a bunker fell on him on Bangaldesh border in 1997. He was dismissed from service in 2000, and since the last ten years he had been pleading his case to no avail.
The former constable threatened he would commit suicide along with his family members if he was not given justice. He said, IB sleuths came to the police station on Wednesday and took all information pertaining to his dismissal. He was kept in the police station till 10.30 pm after which police dropped him at Punjabi Bagh.
