Mumbai: A Sessions Court judge was here on Thursday suspended on charges of sexually harassing a female staff of the court.
A complaint against judge MT Gaikwad, who was presiding over the special Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act court, was filed by a female staff of the court last month.
A preliminary inquiry found enough evidences against the accused following which the suspension of Gaikwad was announced.
The victim had alleged that Gaikwad was in habit of passing objectionable remarks and sometime he had kept her back till late night.
The initial departmental inquiry, which was conducted by Bombay High Court Registrar General Shalini Phansalkar, said that Gaikwad would now be given a chance to defend himself and in case, if the court founds him guilty, Gaikwad may face termination from the service or demotion.
