Hyderabad, May 18: Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta of Uttarakhand High Court has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
Following assent from President Pranab Mukherjee, the Centre on Friday notified the appointment of the new Chief Justice.
Based on the notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice (Department of Justice), the state government issued orders today.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta, Judge of the Uttarakhand High Court, to be the Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office,” the AP Government order said.
Justice Sengupta started his legal journey as a lawyer and practised civil, criminal and constitutional matters at the Calcutta high court.
