The Shiv Sena on Monday demanded action against journalists who "beat up" party activists during last week's attack on IBN Lokmat channel offices.
A delegation of Sena leaders met Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil in this regard. "We have demanded action against journalists, who beat our activists. A party worker was seriously injured and has been paralysed," Sena group leader in Assembly, Subhash Desai, told reporters in Mumbai.
"The Sena activists were booked under IPC 307 (intent to murder) for the November 20 attack, but why were not the journalists booked under the same provision," Desai asked. Police have arrested 17 Sena workers after they attacked the channel's offices in Mumbai and Pune and assaulted staff members, alleging the news network carried reports that showed party chief Bal Thackeray in bad light.
