Kolkata: Responding to P Chidambaram and Abhishek Manu Singhvi criticising the Trinamool Congress over the Saradha chit fund scam, a Trinamool Congress minister today said that the Union Finance Minister was raising the issue when the UPA government had only 20 days left.
“He has taken to think about the victims or he wants to remain ignorant when the present government has just 20 days left,” state Finance Minister Amit Mitra told reporters referring to the Union Finance minister.
On Singhvi's demand for a CBI investigation into the ponzi scam, Mitra dubbed the CBI as the ‘Congress Bureau of Investigation'.
“Chidambaram is speaking about ED and another on CBI. This means neither of them have faith in either agencies,” Mitra said.
He asked Chidambaram whether it was possible that though ED came under the finance ministry, he did not get a briefing. Mitra questioned a Rs 45,000 crore scam by a company in Harayana and Punjab with their office just a kilometre away from Chidambaram's office.
Engaging the Enforcement Directorate was nothing but poll politics, the TMC minister said, adding, “We are hurt and angry.”
