New Delhi: Russia President Vladimir Putin will pay an official visit to India on 10-11 December for the 15th Annual India-Russia Summit.

Putin will be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow for the summit during which the two sides will seek to draw up a long-term vision of their key strategic ties.

Modi and Putin have met earlier at international gatherings but no structured bilateral talks took place between the two closest and long-standing friend. The two top leaders first met in July during the BRICS Summit (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) in Fortaleza, Brazil and later during the informal BRICS meeting in Brisbane, Australia last month on the sideline G20.

The annual India-Russia Summit of the leaders of India and Russia, alternatively hosted by Moscow and New Delhi, was last held in Moscow in October 2013. The current visit will be the first full-fledged summit between India and Russia after the Modi government took office in New Delhi.

About 15 important bilateral documents are expected to be signed, including some in the field of military-technical cooperation, in what will be Putin's fifth visit to India as the Russian President.

The Russian President will also address a joint session of the Parliament.
