Chandigarh, July 1: The ruling Shiromani Akali Dal-BJP combine has given call for Punjab Bandh on Monday July 4 to protest pricerise.

A Core Committee has constituted a two member coordination committee to make the  Punjab bandh call successful.  Punjab Education Minister Sewa Singh Sekhwan and Punjab BJP President Ashwani Sharma  are members of the committee .

“The core committee has finalised a three tier programme to register a strong protest against rising inflation on July 4 during Punjab bandh,” the release said.

Meanwhile, district-level coordination committees have been formed to make the bandh call a success.  District presidents of SAD and BJP, MLAs and constituency in-charges have been included in these coordination committees and asked to motivate the cadre to come out with strong protest against inflation, the release said.

Sekhwan pointed out that the recent hike in prices of petroleum products has put a burden of Rs 1,500 crore on residents of Punjab.

Sekhwan said that “SAD-BJP would take its fight against inflation to its logical end and would not allow Congress-led UPA to make the life of common man miserable.”

Sekhwan and Sharma appealed the members of district level coordination committees to coordinate with business establishments and non-government organisations to make the proposed bandh a success. PTI
