Moradabad, Dec 9 : The Uttar Pradesh Drigs enforcement department on Thursday busted a fake drug making factory in Bahjoi area of Moradabad and seized more than Rs 25 lakhs worth medicines and drug-packaging machines.
Wrappers of reputed pharamceutical brands were seized from the fake drug manufacturing unit.
Drug enforcement officials from five neighbouring districts joining the raid. Two employees, P K SIngh and Alok Goyal, working at the unit have been detained for interrogation.
Two kingpins of this racket are absconding. A huge quantity of fake medicines had been offloaded in the market by this spurious drug manufacturer.
The unit being run under the name of Marco Pharma did not have even a valid drug manufacturing licence. A licence given earlier was cancelled in the year 2007. It was then based in Kasganj, but later shifted clandestinely to Bahjoi area,.
The spurious medicines have been sent to the district lab for chemical analysis reports.
