Ranchi, Apr 7 : In a joint operation by Ranchi Police and intelligence department, Rs 2 crore in cash was seized from a hotel here today.
SP Ranchi Manoj Ratan said, the money was meant to be used for tomorrow's elections for the post of Mayor and councillors. The state election commission had issued an alert to police in advance.
"Based on prior information, we raided the hotel and seized Rs 2 crore cash stuffed in three bags", Manoj Ratan said
Though the police did not reveal, but sources said, the money was meant for a Congress-supported candidate Rama Khalko.
