He read news about self-proclaimed godman Asaram Bapu's travails. "I suddenly knew, his own people were the cause of his miseries. Too much closeness breeds 'dosh' (aberrations), 'avahelna' (disregard) and 'avagya' (disobedience)", observed Shobhan Sarkar on the Asaram imbroglio.
"Another day, I read a news with a picture of Barack Obama. I began thinking, if the US economy crumbles, the entire world economy will crumble, and our countrymen will also suffer. Then I had rashtra-chinta (thoughts about the nation)", said Shobhan Sarkar.
At one point of his monologue, the sadhu says, India has huge quantities of gold which can help the nation overcome hunger, pricerise and economic hardships.
