Mathura, Mar 26: Vijay Kumar Sharma, a retired DSP of UP police, who had levelled charges of bribery against the DGP of state police, was killed in a road accident in Raya near Mathura on Monday.
Sharma was in a Santro car which was hit head-on by a Tata Magic vehicle. He died on the spot, while six others were injured. The accident took place near Fateha petrol pump in Raya.
SSP Pradip Yadav said, Sharma had retired as DSP some months ago.
There are however some questions relating to the mishap: (1) why had Sharma, a resident of Rui Ki Mandi, Agra, gone to Aligarh, (2) why did he take a detour through Raya, when there is a highway going straight from Aligarh to Agra (3) is it not a coincidence that the DGP's village is close to the spot of mishap.
Sharma had charged the DGP of taking money for transfer and postings of senior police officials.
