Remembering India's first war of Independence: Revolt of 1857

The word soon spread and in Meerut, Indian troops, led by the 3rd Cavalry, broke into revolt, killing four European men, eight women and eight children. About 50 Indians who tried to defend the Europeans were killed by the sepoys.
