Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, Apr 1 : Rajasthan Congress MLA Prakash Choudhary today climbed atop a tall BSNL cellphone tower demanding that the tower be removed from near his residence here. In a six hour long drama, the legislator later decided to climb down after a lot of persuasion from local officials.
Choudhary alleged that he had written to the authorities several times objecting to the installation of the cellphone tower, but no action was taken.
Local police and fire brigade staff rushed to the spot. Efforts were made to persuade the MLA to climb down. Ultimately, Choudhary climbed down after a six-hour-long standoff.
The cellphone tower has been erected on a plot owned by the MLA's brother.
Choudhary says, he wants the cellphone tower removed as it is causing radiation and was harmful to the health of his family members.
