Mumbai, Jul 20: Heavy and intermittent rains have lashed this megapolis since last evening forcing authorities to sound a flood alert.
Till 8:30 am on Saturday, Santacruz recordd 78.09 mm and Colaba recorded 71.04 mm rainfall.
Met department said, rains will continue for the next 48 hours.
With sky overcast, authorities warned of a 4.7 metre high tide in the sea. Fishermen have been asked not to venture out into the sea.
Lowlying areas like Dadar, Hindmata and Parel were waterlogged due to heavy rainfall.
