New Delhi, Nov 26: The Northern Railway has cancelled 28 trains and partially cancelled/curtailed many other trains from Dec 1 due to the winter fog that will descend on the northern region.
The press release said the trains are being cancelled/diverted keeping in view “the safety of the passengers”.
The press release added: due to prevailing foggy weather, Northern Railway has decided to prepone the Cancellation/partial cancellation/Diversionof certain trains for the safety of the rail passengers to December 1 instead of Dec 20 as announced earlier.
“This year the smog and fog together have occurred earlier than the previous year. Hence has resulted in preponement of schedule of cancellation. Cancellation etc of trains is being announced in advance so that the passengers may plan their journey accordingly and are put to minimum inconvenience.”

The 12873 Hatia – Anand Vihar T – Jharkhand S.J. Express, 13' Howrah – Delhi Jn. The14723/14724 Kanpur Central – Bhiwani – Kanpur Central Kalindi Express will remain cancelled on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday from Kanpur and Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday from Bhiwani from 1.12.2011 to 31.1.2012 and will run on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from Kanpur and Tuesday, Friday & Saturday from Bhiwani.

The 13111 Kolkata – Delhi Jn. Express will remain partially cancelled between Kanpur & Delhi Jn. from 2.12.2011 to 31.1.2012 while the 13112 Delhi Jn. – Kolkata Express will remain partially cancelled between Delhi – Kanpur Central from 3.12.11 to 2.2.2012
The 15004 Gorakhpur – Anwarganj Chauri Chaura Express will remain partially cancelled between Allahabad – Anwarganj from 2.12.2011 to 31.1.2012 while 15003 Anwarganj – Gorakhpur Chauri Chaura Express will remain partially cancelled between Anwarganj – Allahabad from 3.12.2011 to 1.2.2012.
The 14217/14218 Allahabad – Chandigarh – Allahabad Unchahar Express will remain cancelled between Kanpur – Chandigarh from 1.12.2011 to 31.1.2012.
The 13007 Howrah – Sri Ganga Nagar Express will remain partially cancelled between Mughal Sarai – Sri Ganga Nagar from 1.12.2011 to 31.1.2012 while 13008 Sri Ganga Nagar – Howrah Express will remain partially cancelled between Sri Ganga Nagar – Mughal Sarai from 3.12.2011 to 2.2.2012
TRAINS DIVERTED
The 13237/13239 Patna _ Mathura Exp. And 13238/13240 Mathura – Patna Express trains will be diverted to run via Lucknow – Kanpur – Kasganj – Mathura from 1.12.2011 to 31.1.2012 and 2.12.2011 to 1.2.2012 respectively.
In case there is no fog, booking of the trains which are cancelled may be started with a 3 day notice with qualification that the trains may be cancelled in case there is a fog.
Full refund can be availed by those passengers who have already booked their tickets for the trains which have been cancelled from December 1 onwards.
