Kolkata: AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had heard that a restaurant on Park Street was famous for its chelo kebabs and headed straight for it late on Wednesday night unannounced after a hectic day s tour of three districts in North Bengal.
The restaurant, known for its mughlai dishes, was given just 10 minutes notice before Gandhi turned up for dinner and sat among the patrons, hotel sources said.
Gandhi asked for chelo kebabs, made of chicken and mutton kebabs served with rice and a dollop of butter.
After finishing the kebabs with obvious relish, Gandhi called for grilled bhetki, a fish delicacy.
Dinner over he thanked the restaurant management for an excellent meal before driving away, the sources said.
On Tuesday also Gandhi had dined at another restaurant known for Bengali cuisine where he was serve traditional Bengali vegetarian dishes like 'shukto' and 'moc-har paturi'.
Gandhi jotted his appreciation in the visitor's book before leaving saying "thank you for the nice meal". PTI
