Puri, Aug 20: As part of their support to Anna Hazare's crusade against corruption, a section of priests in the Sri Jagannnath temple here today lit a huge “akhand deepa” before the presiding deity.
“We will also offer sacred ‘Tulsi' (Basil leaves) to Lord Jagannath everyday seeking His blessings till Anna continues his fast”, said Nityananda Mohapatra, a priest of the centuries-old temple.
The priests today prayed before the Lord wishing strength for the 73-year-old fasting Gandhian to press for the passage of the Jan Lokpal Bill.
Rallies are taking place and candle light prayers held in many other temples in different parts of the state every day.
A group of people under the banner of ‘India against Corruption' also launched fast at Bhubaneswar as a mark of solidarity towards Hazare. PTI
