Shaileshkumar Sethiya claims to have set a world record by playing the mouth organ continuously for more than 30 hours recently. The current Guinness record of 24 hours is held by Bonny B of Switzerland, reports DNA.

The feat was performed at Dr Ambedkar Bhavan, Millers Road, Vasanthnagar, Bangalore on May 1. Shaileshkumar played the mouth organ from 11 am on May 1 till 8 pm on May 2 in the presence of an audience. He played more than 400 new and old songs, which have been rendered in more than eight languages like Hindi, Marathi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, English, Gujarati and Punjabi.

As per the Guinness world record norms, he played the mouth organ continuously for more than 30 hours, excluding the break time. Shaileshkumar, who has now shifted from Solapur to Bangalore, said, "I established a new record. This is not for getting fame, but promoting art and Indian talent."

As per the guidelines, Shaileshkumar has sent all documents, a video film and photographs to the Guinness officials for verification. Shaileshkumar recalls that when he was studying in standard IV, he used to take the mouth organ to school. Once he was caught by the school supervisor, who summoned his father for an explanation. His father apologised. This incident made Shaileshkumar resolve to prove his ability in playing the mouth organ. "I dedicate my achievement to my late father," he said.

He completed his school education at Padmashree Sharavika English Medium High School, Neelanagar, Solapur in 1996.He said his father taught him how to play the instrument for18 years. His father Shantilalji Sethiya and mother Vimladevi motivated him towards achievement.

Five years ago, Shaileshkumar realised that he could play the mouth organ well. He obtained details from Guinness and Limca Book of Records officials. He started practising seven to eight hours daily along with yoga and pranayam. On April 17, he played the mouth organ for 12 hours and 20 minutes to break the past Limca Book record of 12 hours in Bangalore.
