New Delhi: The fourth round of this year's pulse polio immunization programme began Sunday morning in the national capital during which children up to 5 years will be administered anti-polio drops.
Around 30,000 health workers have been deployed to administer polio drops to the children at (approximately) 8,000 booths at various places including railway stations, metro stations, bus terminals and children parks in the city.
Besides, health workers will also visit door to door for the next five days to offer polio drops to children.
According to the official data, Delhi government is able to immunize around 23 to 25 lakhs children in each phase of the Pulse Polio Immunization Programme.
Delhi was the first state to initiate pulse polio programme in 1994. It was later adopted by the Government of India and other states.
