Private bus operators withdraw strike call after meeting CM

Shimla: Himachal Private Bus Operators Union has agreed to withdraw its proposed 72 hour strike call from September 23 to press the demand for hike in bus fares after a meeting with Chief Minister Virbhadra

Shimla: Himachal Private Bus Operators Union has agreed to withdraw its proposed 72 hour strike call from September 23 to press the demand for hike in bus fares after a meeting with Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh here yesterday.




“Private bus operators decided to call off the strike after assurance from the Chief Minister that their demands would be resolved amicably,” a government spokesman said.  

A delegation of the union led by its president Jaisi Ram Sharma discussed the issue and other demands with the Chief Minister who assured them of considering them sympathetically.

According to union leaders, state transport minister G S Bali has said private bus operators could put hoardings for advertisements and the revenue could be shared.
