Badaun: Senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister Kalyan Singh today said President's Rule needs to be imposed in Uttar Pradesh, claiming that the state government has lost the moral right to remain in power in the wake of the gang rape and murder of two minor girls.
“UP Government is telling a lie... It has not yet sent the letter recommending CBI inquiry into the gang rape of two innocent girls... It is heartless,” Singh who arrived here to meet the family members of the victims, along with seven BJP MPs, told reporters.
The BJP national vice president said the Samajwadi Party-led government has lost the moral right to remain in power as it is running away from responsibility, and so it is necessary to impose President's Rule in the state.
Asking Chief Minister Akilesh Yadav and senior minister Shivpal Singh Yadav to stop issuing childish statements, Singh advised them to instead pay attention on improving the law and order situation.
The BJP leader, who handed over Rs 5 lakh each to the two families from party fund, said the accused “should also be hanged from the tree in the manner the girls were hanged”. Singh spent about half-an-hour with the families and later visited the spot where the girls were found hanging.
