New Delhi: The Delhi Police today moved a court here seeking its permission to conduct a brain mapping test on arrested top Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) bomb expert Abdul Karim Tunda in a bid to unearth the terrorist network of his associates in India and Pakistan.

The Special Cell of Delhi police filed the plea before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Amit Bansal saying Tunda's brain mapping test would help them in probing “grand conspiracies” being hatched by “forces inimical to the security and sovereignty of the nation”.

It said Tunda has been examined by FSL experts from Ahmedabad and they have opined that responses being given by him were “very cautious and guarded” and its overall veracity was suspected. The police also said a detailed report from the experts is awaited.

“The whole terrorist network of his associates (Tunda) in India and Pakistan and their terrorist designs are to be unearthed. Since the formal report of the experts mentioned above will take some time in preparation and police custody remand period cannot be extended beyond the period mandated by the CrPC, it is requested that permission for conducting brain mapping test of accused Abdul Karim Tunda may be granted...,” the police said in its two-page application.

The court would hear the arguments on the plea tomorrow.
