New Delhi: After a few failed attempts on cracking the accused of Sheena Bora murder case, the Mumbai police used a trick of getting them inside a room and monitoring their conversation without letting them know about it.
The Mumbai Police was successful with its attempt and succeeded in getting a few clues that could unravel the mystery.
The police got all the three accused Indrani Mukerjea, her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and her driver Shyamwar Rai inside a room together. All the three accused were left alone in the room without their knowledge that they were being watched on spy cameras.
They accused started fighting and putting the blame of the murder on each other. Indrani Mukerjea, who was reluctant in telling anything to the cops, said everything when she thought no one was watching her.
Initially inside the interrogation room, the trio tried to stay calm but Indrani could not keep silent for long. She was the one to speak first and started blaming Sanjeev Khanna with heavy voice amidst tears.
She blamed Sanjeev for pulling her in the matter and said that he accused her of things to save his own skin. Indrani said she was not even aware of the things Sanjeev has accused her of.
Sanjeev tried to calm her down but to no avail.
Indrani kept crying for a while and when she started to speak again, it was driver Shyamwar Rai who faced the ire.
She said to him, “It was your fault that I am here in this situation. If you had kept your mouth shut, I could've given you more money and provide legal assistance. But you made a mistake by incriminating me. I will not confess to the murder. Both of you (Shyam Rai and Sanjeev Khanna) made mistakes and you will pay for it.”
“From conspiring and committing the murder, buying petrol, doing recce, putting the body bag on fire in Raigad, you have blamed everything on me,” she said to Shyam Rai.
Indrani reportedly accused Shyam and Khanna to conspire against her and framing her. She questioned her driver of hiding about the man he introduced to her in Raigad who arranged to dispose the body in exchange of money.
The whole recording was monitored by Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria himself. The team investigating the Sheena Bora murder has devised a new angle to look at the whole probe, following the conversation between the accused trio.
Indrani Mukerjea, wife of former media honcho Peter Mukerjea, is the prime accused in murder of her daughter Sheena Bora in 2012 with the help of her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and her driver Shyamwar Rai.
Sheena was born of Indrani's first relationship with a man named Siddhartha Das. They also had a son named Mekhail who has blamed Indrani of attempting to murder him as well.
