The police emergency number in Uttar Pradesh changes from 100 TO 112 from October 26. Currently, both 100 and 112 are working as emergency numbers.
UP Police is consistently working on making its system more efficient to maintain law and order in the state. In 2016, UP100 was launched, which is a hi-tech communication centre.
This is UP government's innovative project who claims to renovate the police's response to the emergency need's of the citizens.
Unlike the conventional Dial 100, UP100 uses high-end networking and Geographic Information System (GIS) technologies to make emergency responses quicker and more efficient. An all-woman team of more than 400 communication officers, employed by Tech Mahindra — the technology partner — attend the citizen’s phone calls.
The service was started in 2016 under the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party administration but was later adopted and expanded by the Bhartiya Janata Party government.
